
Sr. Cynthia A. Mello, SSD
Principal
Sr. Cynthia A. Mello, SSD came to the Rio Grande Valley in 2003 to re-open Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School in 2004. Sr. Cindy is a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts. She attended public schools and graduated from New Bedford High School. Sister Cindy entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Dorothy in 1979 and made her final religious profession in 1986.
Sr. Cindy received a BS in elementary education from Providence College and her Masters in Administration from Rhode Island College, both located in Providence, Rhode Island. Sister also received certification in religious studies.
Sr. Cindy served as a classroom teacher and principal in Catholic Schools in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for over twenty years. She served for her Congregation in Rome, Italy for three years.
Sister is in her ninth year as principal of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School where she has spent time planning, renovating and implementing programs at the school. She is working diligently in providing a quality catholic education for all students.
